The Automobile Industry Post 3

Imagine a world where there were no mechanics and you were forced to fix your own car everytime there was a problem.

"A lot of people aren't bringing their cars into the shop anymore, they're trying to fix [them] theirselves to save money" Service Router James Fratz, 39, of International Motors said.

With people cutting corners at auto shops, dealerships have been feeling the bite of our economy's recession. Lack of business hasn't just hurt the dealerships, the mechanics are facing troubled times as well.

"If there aren't any cars to work on, the technicians are sent home" Fratz said.

It seems like the recession is taking a toll on everyone, big businesses and their employees are doing the best they can with the state of our economy.

Joe the Plumber 2

Youtube.com and MSNBC.com have posted articles and videos about Obama's encounter with "Joe the Plumber." If you don't already know about 'Joe,' he is a plumber who is looking to open up his own company and gained fame during a conversation with Obama about taxes for businesses.

Obama addressed "Joe" in a calm manner and explained his tax plan for small businesses in great detail. "Joe" listened intently to President Obama's response and seemed acceptive of what Obama was saying.

Initially, from "Joe's" body language you could tell that he was agitated and intended to argue with Obama, after only attempting to interrupt once, he seemed to approve of what Obama was saying.

This is another one of Obama's strong points, he has the diction and class to respond well at any criticism. "Joe" later became an icon of the "average joe" and the "small businessman" which worked to Obama's advantage after a successful conversation with "Joe the Plumber." Another victory for President Obama!

Joe the Plumber

This article from MSNBC.com and this video from Youtube.com depict Obama addressing a crowd of people. One of those people would quickly become famous for his question and answer session with President Obama.

While addressing a crowd of people, one man now called "Joe the Plumber," had a few questions for the president. "Joe" is starting a plumbing business and concerned with Obama's future tax plan, questioned Obama to find out how his future business would be taxed.

Obama spoke to "Joe the Plumber" and explained in detail his efforts to "help the small businessman." Obama explained that 95% of new businesses make less than $200,000 a year and that his new tax plan would help those businesses keep more money that the previous tax plans.

"Joe the Plumber" gained fame after his conversation with Obama and was mentioned several times by both Obama and McCain in a later debate. McCain and Obama both addressed the issue of the small businessman and discussed the tax plan for small businesses.
